Where Eastern and Western Civilization Meet in Four
Lands are divided. Civilization is not.
A quiet compendium of the number four across civilizations. Neither loud nor humble — just a bridge.
Four is not only a number in this compendium. It is a lens. Across the traditions gathered here, four appears again and again — not by coincidence, but because something about the number resonates with how human minds organize complexity.
Four directions. Four seasons. Four elements. Four great novels. Four divine beasts. Each tradition reached for four, and found something different in it.
This compendium is built on four layers: Heaven · 天 (cosmic coordinates), Earth · 地 (moral order), Humanity · 人 (inner cultivation), Heart · 心 (spirit made visible). These are not a hierarchy but a living system — one that turns, as all living things do.
