Humanity learned to move before it learned to connect. This column follows how we have extended the boundaries of the body——tools for the hand, vehicles for the leg, networks for the voice. It also holds a quieter thread: measurement, metallurgy, calendars, symbol systems. These are not flashy breakthroughs, but the shared infrastructure that made cooperation, trade, and record-keeping possible. Without them, no movement or connection could have been organised.
